Some cases allow dentists to surgically place an implant right after removing a tooth. Others, however, need three to six months, especially with additional procedures like bone grafting.

Implants must undergo osseointegration, the process by which they fuse with the jawbone for strength and stability. As such, patients must be patient with the healing process. Dentists, too, should explain the timelines and set realistic expectations.
